The Family of God program is the official religious recognition
program of the Roman atholic Church in the U.S.A. for children
ages 7 through 9, who are enrolled in the Girl Scouts of the
U.S.A., Camp Fire Boys and Girls, and other Catholic youth
organizations. The Family of God is an activity series developed
to complement the catechetical efforts of the parish and families
with children ithe the second and third grades. The purpose of
the Family of God program is to help children explore a wide
range of activites to discover the presence of God in their daily
lives as members of their family and parish.
I Live My Faith
The I Live My Faith programm is desgned to help girls/boys,
ages 9 through 11, appreciate more deeply the place that God
and religion occupy in their daily life. The acion-oriented
program activities focus on developing awareness within the
individual of his her potential as a growing person, friend,
family member, citizen and a participant in the community of
faith The program is divided into three chapters, "Streching",
""Seeking", and "Finding", eac of which blends the dimensions
of discovery, prayer, service and sacrament into a unified
whole. I Live My Faith complemnents and supports the more
formal religious education provided in atholic schools and
parish programs. An important part of the program is the
involvement of parents in the process of faith sharing; notes
specifically for parents are included in the project book. To
assis adlts working with groups of participants, and adult guide
is also inclued.
Marian
The Marian Medal program is written for yung Catholics, ages
12 through 15, to envable the to "proclaim the greatness of the
Lord." This is accomplished byy actively involving the
participnts in an understnding of Mar as the model of opennes
and spirituality. A woman of the church. Through various
projects, discussions and liturgical celebrations over a period of
months, he participants are provided with a unique opportunity to
deelp new insights into their personalities, friends, parents and
the world around them. A Christian spirit of hope and faith will
develop in youth as a result of working on this program.
Spirit Alive
This program is designed for Catholic youth in high school who
are in the Senior level of Girl Scouts or are Horizon Club
members of Camp Fire Boys and Girls. It assists them in
discovering how the Holy Spirit moves in teir lives, calling hem
to greater participation in the curch's ministry. The Spirit Alive
adult guide is now available.
For God and for Youth
The highest recognition from the NFCYM for a diocese to confer
on an adult. It is given to adults whose service to outh and youth
ministry is truly exceptional. The medallion, suspended from a
blue and gold ribbon, bears a cross over the background of an
American flag. The four sections created by the cross contain a
bible, dove, youth with outstretched arms and a flame.
